Why I Started Whoa Dough…

I grew up baking in the bakery of my family's restaurant. Like most kids, I loved everything about it. The warm cookies, the smell of chocolate, sneaking bites of cookie dough straight from the bowl. But unlike other kids, I always felt sick afterward. For years, I assumed it was just part of indulging too much until I was finally diagnosed with a gluten allergy as an adult.

Food has always meant more to me than fuel. It's connection. It's celebration. It is how families make memories together. But when food makes you feel excluded or unwell, those moments can disappear fast.

That reality became even more personal when I became a dad. All three of my boys were born with gluten intolerance, just like me. Suddenly, every birthday party, bake sale, and after school treat came with tradeoffs. We could find gluten free options, but they were often dry, boring, or clearly made to be tolerated, not enjoyed. I did not want my kids growing up thinking indulgence was something they had to miss out on.

That frustration sparked the idea for Whoa Dough.

We started by reimagining familiar sweet snacks in a way that felt inclusive and joyful. Our first products were bars, created to deliver that indulgent taste kids love and parents feel good about sharing. But from day one, the vision was bigger than a single product. The goal was to build a platform for gluten free indulgence that puts flavor first, without compromise.

Today, Whoa Dough exists to prove that gluten free can still be fun, craveable, and deeply satisfying. Everything we make is designed to bring people together around treats that feel nostalgic, celebratory, and safe for more families to enjoy. Because no one should have to sit out the best part of the table.
